FIRA GATA AL CARRER
Gastronomic Fair
Savoring Gata is possible at the October fair. Cured meats made with centuries-old recipes, some of them original to the Mallorcan settlers. Products straight from the land such as raisins and mistela (a sweet fortified wine), local olive oil, and honey from Montgó and the Serrellars mountains. Typical flatbreads, burnt bread, and unique creations from local bakeries. Artisan charcuterie, butifarras, blanquets, sobrasada, sausages, and other artisan cured meats. Now also sheep's milk sausages. Wine tastings, featuring local wines, natural wines, and winery wines. Locally produced craft beer. A complete gastronomic experience that can only be enjoyed in Gata de Gorgos because the exhibitors are local artisans.
See exhibitors Crafts and Trade
All the commerce of a town spills out onto the street—this is the “Fira Gata al Carrer” that fills the streets of Gata de Gorgos every year at the beginning of October. While it's already a tradition for artisan shops to display their wares year-round along the main road, during the fair, all the other businesses also spill out onto the street. It's a veritable showcase of decoration, crafts, furniture, fashion, and much more to enjoy while strolling around. Local NGOs and festival committees also join the fair, offering typical foods like pumpkin fritters and various traditional cakes, or, for savory options, the flavors of tapas that transport us back in time.
Consult exhibitors Activities
The "Fira Gata al Carrer" is non-stop throughout its opening hours. A multitude of activities take place in different areas of the fair all day long, including bobbin lace demonstrations, palm weaving workshops, a chess tournament, concerts, parades, workshops, and tastings. Art and culture have also had their place at the "Fira Gata al Carrer" since its inception. Artistic events like “Art al Vent,” the largest textile art exhibition outside of Spain, originated at the first fair and still has a small section within the Fira today.
Music also has its place with performances by musical groups, bands, brass bands, and dance groups, among others.
For the little ones, there are activities like the Cart Ride, the playground, theatrical performances... all designed to give them a unique experience.
